GIVE IT YOUR BEST

by Stan C. Countz

I see the smile has left your face
Your eyes look sad and tired to me
Did you lose sight of the truth?
Or are you just too blind to see?
As long as He is on the throne
That’s not the way it has to be

CHORUS
You don’t need to be down
Don't need to be depressed
Things will come around
If you’ll give it your best

VERSE 2
We all worry and fret but don’t forget
A stranger is a friend we’ve never met
It's a cryin’ shame to waste our breath
Imprisoned by all those old lame regrets
Yesterday is a cancelled check
Tomorrow hasn't happened yet

CHORUS

VERSE 3
Don’t fret from all the nameless fears
We were still wet behind the ears…
Remember all those ceaseless tears
Well, it’s never as bad as it appears

OUTRO
I still believe we're destined to succeed
You gotta lead, follow or get out of the way
Don’t mean to be na├»ve or lead you astray
But there’s no need to be filled with dismay

CHORUS / OUTRO
No need to be cast down
No need to be depressed
Things will come around
If you’ll give it your best
I once was lost but now I’m found
Was blind but now I see
Was hell bent and earth bound
But now I’m finally free…

WISH I COULD COUNT THE TIMES

by Stan C. Countz

V1
How many times have I stumbled at night?
How many times have I wondered why?
How many times have I run from the light?
I wish I could count the times…

V2
How many times have I lost my way?
How many times have I forgotten to pray?
How many times have I disobeyed?
More than the stars in the sky…

CHORUS
I wish I could count the times
You came through in that final hour
If I’d have only seen the signs
Of your majesty and power
Wish I could count the times
You proved your word was true
Wish I could count the times
You were there to see me through

BRIDGE
I always tried to stay inside the lines
Hoped and prayed one day the sun would shine
My life had no reason or rhyme
But a better friend I could never find
A friend that gives and cares
That’s always good and kind
That never gives in or despairs
That’s there in a pinch or a bind

CHORUS / OUTRO
I wish I could count the times
You came through in that final hour
If I’d have only seen the signs
Of your majesty and power
Wish I could count the times
You proved your word was true
Wish I could count the times
You were there to see me through

A CONTRARIAN

lyrics by Stan C. Countz

If the herd is runnin’ one way
I wanna turn around and run the other
If they’re all foldin’, somethin’ makes me stay
If they’re holdin’, I wanna run for cover

Guess you could say… I’m a contrarian
It don’t take a great librarian
To look up the meanin’
I just look at which way
The crowd is leanin’
And run the other way
Guess you could say…I’m a contrarian

If everyone is standin’, all of sudden I just wanna sit
But when I’m feelin’ abandoned, I never wanna quit
If the lemmings are all jumping off the top of the cliff
Don’t mean that you and me have to do it, now does it?

Not if we’re a contrarian…
If they say “stay single”
We wanna marry ‘em
If they say “have it natural”

We want a Ceasarian
If they say “let him fall”
All of a sudden, we wanna carry him
If they say “he’s OK”
We wanna bury him

It don’t take a great librarian
To look up the meanin’
We just look at which way
The crowd is leanin’
And run the other way

If the shoe fits, it don’t mean
you have to wear it
Sometimes you just have to
Grin and bear it

But if you see any semblance
If you see a resemblance
You just may be
A contrarian
I just hope that you don’t marry one

‘Cuz if you do, I’m gonna tell ya the truth
Your ride is gonna be a scary one
‘Cuz it aint’ easy to be
Married to a contrarian

THINGS TO COME

by Stan C. Countz

I saw a rider on a white horse
He wore a crown on his head
He rode out as a conqueror
And held a bow to his chest
Bent on conquest

Close up and seal the scroll
Until the end of time
Many will go to and fro
And will be purified
Made spotless and refined

The wicked will grow and increase
And cry peace when there is no peace
They cannot see; their eyes are blind
Those who are wise will be of one mind

I’ll go to a peaceful people
Who think they’re safe
Against the day of evil
No bars, walls or gates

Be not shaken in mind or troubled
By spirit, letter or word
As though the day had come
And you had just not heard

Let no one deceive you
For that Day will not come
‘Til first the falling away
And the man of sin
The son of perdition
Has been revealed

No one thought it odd at all
He sits as God in the temple
He exalts himself above all
That is worshipped or called God

He is the abomination of desolation
The nations of the earth he deceives
The ten horns are ten kings
No kingdom have they yet received
But they will receive power
For one fateful hour
As kings with the beast
And the nations will be deceived

These are of one mind and one accord
And give their authority to the beast
These will make war with the Lamb
The King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Those who are with Him
Are called, chosen and faithful
The waters where the harlot sits
Are peoples, tongues and nations

The ten horns on the beast
Will hate the harlot with great desire
Make her desolate and naked
Eat her flesh and burn her with fire

For they are of one heart and mind
And give their kingdom to the beast
The woman is that city which reigns
Over the greatest and the least

The seven heads are seven mountains
On which the woman sits
For the nations have drunk the wine
Of the wrath of her sin

The kings of the earth have sinned with her
And the merchants have been enriched
With her luxury; the kings will weep for her
When they see the smoke of her burning

Standing at a distance for fear of her torment
Saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon
In one hour your judgment has come.’
The merchants of the earth will mourn her

For no one buys her wares anymore
Mystery Babylon, the great harlot
Gold, silver, precious stones and pearls
Fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet

Precious wood, ivory
Cinnamon and incense
Bronze, iron and marble
Oil and frankincense

Wine and oil
Flour and wheat
Horses and chariots
Cattle and sheep

Men’s bodies and souls
The fruit you longed for
And all the splendid things
You’ll find them no more

These rich merchants
Will stand at a distance
For fear of her torment
Weeping and wailing

And saying, ‘Alas, alas,
That great city clothed
In linen, purple, scarlet and gold
Pearls and precious stones

In one hour came to nothing
Those who trade and ply the sea
Stood at a distance and could see
The smoke of her burning

Saying, ‘What is like this great city?’
They threw dust on their heads
And cried out wailing and weeping
Saying, ‘that city is now desolate.’
